Jonathan Feist has worked in commercial book publishing since the early 1990s, helping hundreds of authors to publish hundreds of books, primarily related to music education, business, culture, and wellness. His roles as a publishing partner include editor, project manager, writing coach, music notation engraver, layout compositor, ghost writer, photographer, curriculum developer, and more. Most of his work is as editor in chief of Berklee Press®, the book publishing division of Berklee College of Music, where he has worked since 1998. He also helps independent authors publish books independently.

  • Editor, helping to organize and develop ideas, set style standards, as well as copyediting for clarity and accuracy

  • Project manager, helping to set a timeline and budget, supervise content generation (including writing, art, notation, associated media production, indexing, printing, etc.), and control the myriad details of the publishing process

In addition to having published over 250 books as editor and project manager, Jonathan holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music composition from New England Conservatory of Music, and a certificate in commercial photography from the New England School of Photography. He taught music notation for over twenty years at Berklee College of Music’s online school.
