Jonathan Feist is a writer, editor, composer/songwriter,
occasional photographer, and general dabbler in an overly long list of
additional esoteric activities that most people would find obnoxious to read.
He is author and teacher of the Berkleemusic.com online course Music
Notation with Finale, and two books: The
Berklee Practice Method: Teacher's Guide and Essential
Songwriter, as well as numerous articles and the occasional limerick.
He has edited over one hundred titles about music, technology, business, and
culture. He currently serves as Managing Editor of Berklee Press (Berklee
College of Music), teaches composition-related topics, and occasionally leads
writing seminars. At home in the Harvard Shaker Meetinghouse (1791), he lives
with his wife Marci, sons
Merlin and Forrest), beagles Lily and Cricket, various chickens, runner ducks,
pilgrim geese, about twenty fruit trees (mostly heirloom varieties of apples),
and occasionally, other visiting barnyard creatures. He is chair of the Town of Harvard Historical Commission.
Jonathan writes two blogs: Writing about Music (mostly about
notation topics) and Delights
and Processes (eclectic and personal, with themes of historical
preservation and life in Harvard, MA).
The music that should be playing when this page
loads is his composition "Le Petite Prince Merlin." Click here for a free copy of the solo piano sheet music.
